Window replacement on a mansard house

Red mansard house in scaffolding, upstairs windows being replaced

A mansard house with eighties windows that let the wind through and a facade that needed checking before painting. The owners wanted the upstairs windows done first, where it was coldest.

We put scaffolding round the gable, replaced the windows one at a time so the house was never open, and had our plumbing partner fit the heat pump while the scaffolding was up.

What we did

  • Scaffolding round the gable
  • New upstairs windows in the old positions
  • New boards and trims round the windows
  • Air source heat pump fitted by certified partner
  • Boards and corners checked before painting

The tricky part

The sizes. None of the old windows was the same size as the one next to it. We measured every opening, ordered the windows to exact size and adjusted the trims on site instead of cutting into the frame.
